Electrolysis Procedures

Face and neck:

The cheeks not only can develop course hairs but the fine peach fuzz can grow long and thick. Both situations can be embarrassing and can be treated by electrolysis. The course (terminal) hairs are often stronger due to previous tweezing or waxing. When electrolysis is stared, temporary hair removal procedures must be discontinued because electrolysis will make the hair weaker and thinner before it dies. The receptor and sensitivity to hormone imbalance on terminal hairs can be another reason why they are thicker because they are often more sensitive to free-floating testosterone causing them to grow stronger. As most men and some women age hair forms on their ears, shaving and clipping are temporally remedies but often can’t keep up with the continued growth. Hair receptors in this area may be more sensitive to free floating testosterone or other hormones called androgens that produce hair growth. The eyebrows enhance the eye and we often hear that they are called the frame of the soul’s mirror. When we shape the eyebrow by removing the hairs between and below the brow we intend to leave as much of hair as possible above the brow to give it height to enhance the eye. The upper and lower lips areas are the most common areas for unwanted hair growth and it may be sensitive due to nerve endings overlapping at the mid line of the body. The client may tolerate the treatments better if they arrive 30 minutes prior to their appointment for numbing cream to be applied. The chin and neck are other common areas for unwanted hair since the hairs here tend to have more sensitive hair receptors that attach to free-floating testosterone causing the hairs to grow stronger. The electrolysis will make the hair weaker before they die.

Body:

Many people have hair on their backs that bother them. Whether you have a patch or your entire back is involved, electrolysis is the permanent way to relieve you of this problem. During puberty or during hormone changes throughout your life this area may have experienced more hair growth. It happens the same thing with the bikini area; most women find that having hair in this area is uncomfortable, especially when they try to wear a swimsuit and want to feel confident. When we talk about the breasts and chest his area is a common area for hair growth, especially around the nipple/aureole area. Men usually experience more hair growth here and the hair is often course but when we confront hair in a woman’s breast it can be very uncomfortable, especially when we try to intimate. The beauty of the Electrolysis in the underarms is when the hair dies, the entire follicle does also and there is nothing more beautiful to see that an underarm hair-free because, in this area not only we remove the hair, also the skin starts to regenerate itself and in most cases, the pigmentation that is developed by treatments of wax or shaving starts to fade. Most women have unwanted hair on their legs usually more on their lower legs but often both upper and lower legs are problematic. Shaving and waxing are often used to manage the hair but are only temporally solutions. Electrolysis is the only permanent way to relieve you of this unwanted hair no matter what areas bother you. Many women and some men have unwanted hair on their arms. Since they are often visible, dark, thick or long hair often cause embarrassment. When the hair removed, the arms look thinner and clean.

A certain percentage of follicles are actively growing and because of this they have moist in the inside, that is a good time to perform the treatment with effectiveness but we shouldn’t forget that some follicles are also in a dormant stage, these follicles are going through a natural growth cycle and the hair will resurface within a few weeks. When they begin an active growth once again, they can be effectively treated. For this reason, a series of treatments is required. The length of the series and the length of each appointment are highly individual and must be determined by the examination of the area. Generally, if a person takes the treatments according to the clinic’s recommendation, does not have a hormone imbalance, is not taking a medication which would affect hair growth, and has no medical condition or tumor which would affect hair growth, the treatment series could range from six months to two years.

Some areas of the body are more sensitive than are others. Prescription anesthesia is available for those who request it. However, in our practice, we notice that 98% of our patients request only the topical anesthesia, which we routinely provide. The patient’s skin may exhibit a slight amount of redness and swelling usually lasting no more than 15-30 minutes.

Skin care:

Depending on individual skin types, you may display redness and a small amount of swelling after the treatment, this is normal. If any other manifestations occur, it is temporally and will disappear shortly with proper care.

Here in the clinic we also recommend to take care of the skin by applying a total sun block especially in areas where the sun is in direct contact with the skin, such as the face, arms and chest, even if you don’t do Electrolysis treatments to prevent long term skin damage.

First day:

As we carry the most updated technology in electroepilation equipment we do a special after care treatment right after we finish the session and it is called cataphoresis, this procedure close the pore, bactericide and germicide the area and also is a vasoconstrictor so it reduces the little redness that you might have when we finish to epilate. With the cataphoresis, we apply an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory cream that accelerates the healing process of the skin, and we apply a total sun block when we treat the face, chest or arm area. We also provide you with a sample of this cream and sun block for you to have a put in your skin for four more days.

After the first day:

In some cases, when the skin is very sensitive, we could expect a little redness, if it is so, the client must not touch the skin, just leave it heal by itself and we also recommend not to use hot tubs, saunas or pools for at least three days after the treatment is performed.
